MATSEC brings together people from cybersecurity and infosec who share a love of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Skip the conference small talk and swap it for a few rounds on the mat with people who speak your language on and off it.
A seminar-style class led by a BJJ black belt, with time to drill technique, optional sparring rounds and an open Q&A. Afterwards, we head out for food and drinks nearby: the best place to carry on the conversations you started on the mat.
Nick Tiscoe is a 2nd-degree black belt under Kev Capel (Roger Gracie), with 20 years of coaching experience. He founded MATSEC Cyber × BJJ networking events and has hosted five events bringing the security and grappling communities together.
Places are free. We ask every attendee to donate £20 to the Panathlon Foundation, which gives young people with disabilities and special educational needs the chance to compete in sport. You’ll get a limited-edition MATSEC rash guard, the session, and food and drinks afterwards.
Everyone, from first class to black belt. The session is built so beginners can join in comfortably and experienced grapplers still get something from it. Sparring is optional, and partners are matched by experience and size.
Gi or shorts/leggings, water and a towel. We’ll provide your rash guard: just tell us your size when you register.
Yes. Beginners are welcome and fully looked after.
Everything is supervised by a black belt, and all participants sign a waiver at registration.
Yes, a photographer will be there. Tell us at registration if you’d prefer not to be featured.
Places are free, so there’s nothing to refund. If you can’t make it, please let us know so we can offer your place to someone on the waitlist.
